Section 9.1-914 authorizes
the Central Criminal Records Exchange (CCRE) of the Virginia Department of
State Police to electronically notify an individual conducting
*Child Day Care or Child-Minding Services,
public, religious or private educational institution, including any
preschool, elementary school, secondary school, post-secondary school,
trade or professional institution, or institution of higher education.
STATE REGULATED or LICENSED child care institution, child day center,
child day program, foster home or group home, nursing home or certified
nursing facility, of the registration of a sex offender residing within
the same or contiguous zip code as the entitled organization or entity.
Any person may request from the State Police and, upon compliance with
the requirements therefore established by the State Police, shall be
eligible to receive from the State Police electronic notice
of the registration or re-registration of any sex offender.
- Day Care services is providing supplementary care and
protection during a part of a day for the minor child of another
- Child-Minding services means temporary custodial care
or supervisory services for the minor child of another. Individuals
engaged in these businesses are not required to be state regulated or
licensed to request notification.
Notifications of Sex Offender Registrations will include a photograph
and registration for sexually violent and sex offenders.
To register for community notification, complete and submit the
following form. The Registry will provide electronic notifications
to all authorized entities that have Internet access (EMAIL ADDRESS). If
your entity does not have the availability of Internet access, the
community notification will be mailed by U. S. Mail and may be charged a
fee. Your request will be reviewed and processed within three days of receipt.
All registrations with invalid email address will be deleted, thereby; any
individual or entity requesting an electronic notification must complete a
new community notification registration providing a valid email address
NOTE: Please make sure that your system is set up to allow the sender
Sex.Offender.Notification@vsp.virginia.gov or the domain vsp.virginia.gov to
send you e-mail. If this is not done, your firewall or Internet Service Provider (ISP)
may reject the community notifications as spam.
